This bill (S.F. No. 2024) proposes an amendment to Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 204B.21, to allow counties to establish pools of election judges through a random selection process. Under the bill, county boards may pass a resolution directing the county auditor to randomly select registered voters to form a pool of potential election judges.

Municipal clerks and the county auditor may then assign individuals from this pool to serve as election judges in polling places and on absentee ballot boards. Selected individuals must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements under section 204B.19 and are obligated to serve if designated. The bill prohibits exclusion from service based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or economic status.
