This bill (S.F. No. 2020) proposes a one-time appropriation of $12,500,000 from the general fund in fiscal year 2026 to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. The funds would be used as a grant to the Children's Museum of Southern Minnesota, a nonprofit organization, for capital improvements at the museum in Mankato. These improvements include predesign, design, construction, renovation, furnishing, and equipping of the museum, as well as the expansion of the museum building, renovation of exhibit space, and the addition of an outdoor nature play area. The appropriation remains available until the project is completed or abandoned, following Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642.
