This bill proposes an appropriation of $6 million from Minnesota's general fund in fiscal year 2026 for a grant to FilmNorth, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The funds will be used to renovate property at 2447 University Avenue West in St. Paul to create a multiuse facility. The facility will include:

• A workforce training center for film industry jobs
  
• An archive for short films, documentaries, experimental films, and narrative films by Minnesota media artists, accessible to the public
  
• A soundstage and community event space
  
• Affordable office space for low-income artists
  

The appropriation is one-time funding and remains available until the project is completed or abandoned, per Minnesota Statutes Section 16A.642.
