This bill appropriates $15 million from state bond proceeds to the Minnesota Valley Regional Rail Authority through the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The funds will be used to rehabilitate a section of railroad track between Winthrop and Hanley Falls, including environmental documentation, remediation, bridge repairs or replacements, and culvert installations. A portion of the grant may be used as matching funds for federal grants. The bill also authorizes the sale and issuance of state bonds to fund the appropriation. This appropriation is in addition to previous funding allocated for the project in multiple legislative sessions since 2006.
