This bill proposes an appropriation of $750,000 in fiscal year 2026 from Minnesota's arts and cultural heritage fund to support a lake sturgeon project at the Great Lakes Aquarium. The project will be conducted in collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The funding will be used for rearing and stocking lake sturgeon, as well as public education efforts on the historical, cultural, and biological significance of the species in the St. Louis River. The bill has been introduced in the Minnesota House of Representatives and referred to the Committee on Legacy Finance.
